VentureBeat reports that Qualcomm stated that it has acquired startup chip designer Wilocity to bring a faster, short-distance wireless technology to mobile devices. Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Wilocity was established in 2007 to create quicker Wi-Fi chips, dubbed WiGig.
