Discovery Acquires Controlling Stake in Eurosport International

Discovery Communications, the Silver Spring-based media company behind such cable TV staples as the Discovery Channel, TLC and Animal Planet, said on Friday it has acquired a controlling interest in European sports entertainment group Eurosport International. The company, which initially acquired a 20% stake in Eurosport in 2012, increased its stake to 51% as part of a larger partnership with TF1 Group. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
