Cupertino, Calif. – Following years of legal wrangling and often-contentious
negotiations, Apple (NASD:  AAPL) on Tuesday began selling the Beatles’ catalog through its
iTunes Store. Single albums are available for purchase and
download for $12.99 each, double albums for $19.99 each and individual songs
for $1.29 each.

Through agreements with Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI, the service is
now selling 13 of the legendary band’s remastered studio albums, as well as the
two-volume “Past Masters” compilation and classic “Red” and
“Blue” collections.

In addition to the albums, iTunes also will sell a
special digital “Beatles Box Set” ($149) featuring all of the studio recordings, plus the “Live at
the Washington Coliseum, 1964” concert film, which captures the Beatles’
first U.S. concert.

“It has been a long and winding road to get
here,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “Thanks to the Beatles and EMI, we
are now realizing a dream we’ve had since we launched iTunes 10 years
ago.”
