Non-profit performance rights organization SoundExchange announced today that distributed nearly $88 million to more than 18,300 payees during the third quarter of 2011, the largest quarterly distributions since its 2000 founding. Portland, Ore. - CD Baby, a provider of CD and digital music distributions services for independent artists, has expanded its service with the launch of BookBaby, which offers to help authors self-publish and distribute their titles. For $149, the service will offer authors 100% of net sales revenue generated via sales of their titles through CD Baby on Amazon, iTunes, Barnes & Noble, Sony and eventually Google.
Portland, Ore. – CD Baby, a 12-year-old online retailer of CDs and digital downloads, announced on Wednesday that it has surpassed $150 million in payments of independent artists, and expects to pay out nearly $40 million this year. The company said it added 18,000 new titles during the second quarter, up almost 70% from a year ago.
