Instagram Acquires Video Sharing App Luma

TechCrunch reports that Instagram has made its first acquisition by taking over the team and technology of the Y Combinator launched company called Luma. The technology includes video stabilization, which Instagram is apparently now using to improve its own stabilization tech, and a “non-disruptive” video filtering technology. Facebook Acquires Mobile Technologies

Facebook said it has acquired Pittsburgh-based Mobile Technologies, developer of a speech-to-speech translation app known as Jibbigo. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. "Once the deal has closed many of us will be joining the company at their headquarters in Menlo Park, California," Mobile Technologies wrote on its website.
