Schaumberg, Ill. – Motorola (NYSE: MOT) has acquired 280 North, the
developer of a Web application development platform, TechCrunch reported,
citing sources who said the purchase price was around $20 million.

Founded in
2008, 280 North had raised $250,000 in angel financing from backers including
Lowercase Capital and XGYC.

"The transaction provides Motorola with
specialized web-app engineering talent and technology that will help facilitate
the continued expansion of Motorola’s application ecosystem," the company
told TechCrunch.

"We believe 280 North will be instrumental in helping us
continue to foster the Android ecosystem with innovative web-based technologies
and applications."
