Two companies at the scrappier end of the music industry joined forces, with today’s announcement that ReverbNation has acquired GigMaven. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ReverbNation said in a statement that the deal would expand its capabilities, enabling it to better serve the live performance community. Different types of accounts are available depending on whether the users are musicians, booking agents or venue representatives.

San Diego – Bandsintown, a service that provides upcoming concert
recommendations and aggregated ticket sales, on Tuesday announced new
partnerships with major label EMI, discovery service Shazam and marketing
platform ReverbNation. Bandsintown will power tour dates and ticket sales for both
Shazam and ReverbNation. The company will also work with EMI to promote access
to the live events of artists on the label.
