NewsGator Gets $10 Million for RSS Reader, Widget Services

Denver - NewsGator Technologies, a provider of social networking and widget services, as well as RSS feed aggregators, announced on Monday that it has closed a new $10 million round of funding.

Previous investors Masthead Venture Partners, Mobius Venture Capital and Vista Ventures participated in the round.

Denver-based NewsGator provides its services to customers including CBS, CNN, Discovery, National Geographic and USA Today.

The company said it experienced its two most successful quarters in the second half of 2008, with fourth-quarter revenue setting a record.

Mobile News Aggregator Mobispine Acquires NewsAlloy

Stockholm, Sweden – Mobispine, a Sweden-based provider of news and content aggregation services for mobile devices, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired NewsAlloy, the provider of a free, Web-based news feed reader.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Mobispine said its service currently claims 300,000 monthly active mobile users, while NewsAlloy counts over 11,000; the combined company is aiming to reach a goal of 10 million users.
