San Francisco – Spotify, the European streaming music
service whose CEO has promised a U.S. launch by the end of 2010, has yet to
sign a licensing deal with any of the four major record labels after more than
a year of talks, CNET News.com reported, citing music industry sources. The
sources told CNET that Spotify and the labels cannot agree on "some basic
financial questions," and that the labels are skeptical of Spotify’s
ability to convert consumers using its free, ad-supported plan to its paid

announced a partnership with Sonos, to make its service available on the
company’s wireless multi-room music system. Sonos customers in Finland, France,
the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden and the U.K. — the countries where
Spotify is currently available — will now be able to access Spotify’s library
of over 8 million streaming songs.

determine what type of service would be possible to launch before the end of

persuade" the labels to license the service in earlier discussions, which
centered on a "freemium" model that some labels have publicly said

deals that would allow it to launch this year as promised, "designed to
evolve over [...].
London – Spotify now counts more than 500,000 subscribers to
premium version of its streaming music service, which costs £9.99 ($15.25) per
month, CEO Daniel Ek told Music Week. Ek also hinted that the service’s U.S.
launch — previously pegged for this summer — may be pushed into 2011.
"Will we launch [in the U.S.] this year? Yes, we think that’s possible.
But if for whatever reason we cannot launch the service that we envisage, then
we will wait," Ek told Music Week.
- TuneCore, a provider of digital distribution services for musical artists,
said on Wednesday that it has added streaming music service Spotify to its
offering. TuneCore and Spotify will host a co-branded landing page linked from
TuneCore to Spotify, which counts over 7 million users. TuneCore has in recent
months expanded its distribution service for artists to include Zune, Mog,
iLike, MySpace Music and Thumbplay.

Stockholm, Sweden – Streaming music service Spotify
announced on Thursday the availability of its service on TVs in Sweden and Finland, the results of a new
partnership with local ISP TeliaSonera. The app will be available to
TeliaSonera digital TV customers who are Spotify Premium subscribers.
London – Streaming music
service Spotify on Tuesday launched two new service offerings for its U.K. users,
Spotify Unlimited and Spotify Open. The Unlimited option offers ad-free
streaming to a computer for £4.99 ($7.15) per month; the plan that adds mobile access
still costs £9.99 ($14.32) per month. The new Spotify Open offers free
streaming with ads but caps listening at 20 hours per month. The company’s
basic free streaming service still requires an invite to join.
