New York – United States Artists, a nonprofit that helps
fund artists, has established a website that will solicit small online
donations from potential patrons and other supporters, The New York Times
reported. During testing, the site raised a total of $210,000 from 1,500 donors
who pledged an average of $120 each. The site comes as similar offerings like
Kickstarter have become a place where aspiring filmmakers and other artists can
launch campaigns to crowdsource funding for specific projects.
