Joakim Baage JOAKIM "JAY" BAAGE

VP of Content
Senior Writer

Joakim "Jay" Baage has been hooked on working in media and communications ever since he, at the age of 19, did a year of military service as a writer for the Swedish Armed Forces' newspaper Värnpliktsnytt.

He quickly dropped camouflage in favor of business attire and now has over 13 years of experience from a wide range of international media companies including Reuters, ABC News/Good Morning America, Dagens Industri, TV4 Ekonominyheterna as well as freelance work.

In the last few years, Jay has focused on digital media and entertainment, especially as it relates to needs and wants of the Millennial generation (born between 1982 and 2000).

Together with Ned Sherman, CEO and Publisher of DMW, Jay heads up a series of Millennials conferences, focused on digital entertainment trends and strategies as well as consumer marketing towards this unique generation.

As VP of Content at DMW, Jay also oversees content in DMW's publications as well as events. He manages marketing initiatives, public relations and business development across the board. Last, but not least, he runs the day-to-day operations for the popular dmwmedia.com news and community site.

Jay has a Masters Degree in Media, Entertainment and Technology Management from New York University and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Goteborg University in Sweden.

He is a recipient of the Wallenberg Scholarship 2004 and 2006, The Sweden-America Foundation Fellowship 2005 as well as awarded a scholarship for being “A Promising New Media Manager” by Swedish Newspaper Publishers’ Association 2005 and 2001.

Joakim also has a keen personal interest in digital media, music and pop-culture. On his desk, you will find a MacBook Pro, a video iPod, a BlackBerry, the latest issue of Business Week and US Weekly as well as a pair of Cutler and Gross shades.

He claims to listen to "all kinds of music," but is happy to give you an ear full about hipster bands from his native Scandinavia like "Peter, Bjorn & John."
