Media General to Acquire LIN Media in $1.6B Deal

Media General, the Richmond-based television broadcasting and digital media company, said on Friday it will acquire Rhode Island-based LIN Media for $1.6 billion in cash and stock in a deal the company said will create the second largest pure-play television broadcasting company in the U.S. Under the deal, expected to close in early 2015, Media General will pay $27.82 a share, while also assuming LIN's $968 million of net debt.
