Comcast Extends “Internet Essentials” Low-Cost Broadband Program

Cable giant Comcast said it will indefinitely continue its program providing low-cost broadband service to needy families. The program, known as Internet Essentials program, had been scheduled to expire later this year after initially launching in 2011. It allows low-income families to buy broadband service for $9.95 a month, also giving them the option to purchase an Internet-ready computer for under $150 and access free digital literacy training.
