Firstly I don't own any

Firstly I don't own any other Sony product, I'm not a fan of the Sony brand. I use my PS3 exclusively as a HD media centre and Blu-ray player. Because it's a such a 'connected' product it's a supported, regularly updated and flexible media device. It already has a user base in the millions, granted a large proportion are owned by kids in bedrooms, but a huge number are treated as 'serious' AV hardware. If the HDDVD backers had pushed for that sort of support from the outset their format would have won last year.
