A&E Cuts Losses, Cancels ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’

Duane The show “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” a hit reality program on A&E that features Duane “Dog” Chapman and his bounty hunting Hawaii-based family, has fallen on rocky times.  First, a tape from a telephone conversation that shows Chapman repeatedly using racial slurs about his son’s girlfriend, who is black, was released to the media.  Turns out his son sold the tape for “a lot of money,” according to Chapman’s lawyer.  And as of today, A&E has taken Chapman’s show off the air.

DirecTV Details New HD Channels Launching in Fall

El Segundo, Calif. - Satellite TV provider DirecTV has announced plans to launch a range of new HD channels in the fall, and reconfirmed its plans to have up to 100 national HD channels by year's end. The company plans to launch six new HD channels from Discovery Communications, five from Starz, and other new offerings from The History Channel and A&E. DirecTV also plans to offer local HD channels in 75 U.S. markets by the end of 2007.

CinemaNow Adds Showtime, A&E TV Shows to Internet Download Service

Marina del Rey, Calif. - CinemaNow, an Internet movie and TV show download service, announced on Monday that it has signed licensing agreements with Showtime Networks and A&E Television Networks. Under the deal, $1.99 episodes of TV programs including "Biography," "Modern Marvels," "The L Word" and "Sleeper Cell" will be added to CinemaNow.

A&E Television Networks Adds Shows to iTunes Store

New York - A&E Television Networks announced on Wednesday that it has made programs from its A&E Network, The Biography Channel and The History Channel available for purchase and download from Apple's iTunes Store.
