Clear Channel Drops Waiver That Denied Indie Bands Online Royalties

Los Angeles - Radio giant Clear Channel has dropped a waiver it had been asking independent and unsigned artists to sign to make them eligible for online airplay, which many had construed to mean that such artists would forego any royalties for this airplay.

Large Webcasters Decry SoundExchange Discounted Royalty Offer

Washington - SaveNetRadio, a group backed by large webcasters such as AOL, Yahoo and Live365 who are represented by the Digital Media Association, said an offer put forth yesterday by SoundExchange that would provide below-market royalty rates for small webcasters would "decimate" the Internet radio industry.

Massive CEO, Mitch Davis, and President of New Media, Nichola Longano, will both leave the in-game ads specialist this month. The company was bought by Microsoft in May of 2006 to bring ads to the Xbox 360, and apply Massive technology to services such as Windows Live and MSN. No reason was given for the departure of the two executives.
