Mark Cuban, Christine Hefner Lead List of Possible Chicago Cubs Acquirers

Rich Walden, head of sports financing for JP Morgan Chase, said on CNBC today that Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and HDNet, and Christine Hefner, chairman and CEO of Playboy, are among a short list of potential acquirers of the Chicago Cubs. The Tribune Co. has said it will sell the Cubs at the end of the year. Early estimates place a $600 million price tag on the organization.

Viacom's MTV Networks Acquires Teen User-Generated Site Quizilla.com

New York - Viacom's MTV Networks announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Quizilla.com, an online community featuring user-generated content from teen authors, from Gorilla Nation Media. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Founded in 2002, Quizilla is in the top five sites for teenage girls, and attracted 3.1 million unique visitors during September, according to comScore Media Metrix. The site's mix of quizzes, fiction, non-fiction, poetry, polls and other creative content will be added to The-N.com, part of Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group.

Live Nation Acquires Majority Stake in Musictoday

Los Angeles - Live Nation, a concert promotion and venue management company, announced on Monday that it has acquired a majority stake in Musictoday, a service that provides artists with online features like Internet fan clubs, e-commerce and fulfillment, VIP packaging and secondary market ticketing.

Washington - Congressional Quarterly, the Washington-based provider of news and analysis on politics and public policy issues, said on Tuesday that it has acquired Political Money Line, an independent source of Web-based campaign finance information, for an undisclosed sum.
