Musiwave, Actimagine Develop Full-Motion Video Ringtones

Paris - Musiwave, a provider of mobile music services, announced on Friday that it partnered with French video compression developer Actimagine to launch a line of full-motion video mobile phone ringtones. Musiwave previously offered Pictones, which combine songs with an animated image slideshow; the new offering upgrades Pictones to full-motion video. Musiwave's new full-video Pictones have launched with wireless carrier Vodafone Italy, and are expected to expand to additional carriers this year.

Paris - Actimagine, a French developer of advanced video compression technologies, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $3.75 million in financing from GRP Partners.

Actimagine, Majesco to Bring Animated Features to Nintendo Handhelds

Paris - Actimagine, a developer of video display technologies, said on Tuesday that its video codec is being used by game publisher Majesco to deliver full-length animated films to Nintendo's line of handheld game consoles, including the DS and Game Boy Micro. The Actimagine codec allows up to 90 minutes of video to be stored on a standard cartridge. Majesco has licensed a number of cartoons for conversion and release on its Game Boy Advance Video format. Paris-based Actimagine's technology has also been utilized by Sony Pictures Digital, to deliver feature films on memory cards for mobile phones.

Actimagine Brings Full-Length Movies to 128MB Phone Memory Cards

Paris - Actimagine, a French developer of mobile video and digital rights management technology, said on Tuesday that its technology is being used by Sony Pictures Digital in the U.K. to release full-length feature films on 128MB memory cards for cell phones. The studio has thus far released films including "Spiderman 2," "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," "Stuart Little," "Ghostbusters" and "Hitch" on memory cards. Actimagine's technology has also been utilized in Nintendo's Game Boy Advance and DS handheld game systems, and a Fisher Price portable media player for kids.
