Mountain View, Calif. - Google (NASD: GOOG) announced on Monday that it has signed a deal to acquire mobile display advertising provider AdMob, for $750 million in stock. Founded in 2006, San Mateo, Calif.-based AdMob offers advertisers self-service tools to target their mobile ads, and has developer mobile ad platforms for the iPhone and more recently, Google's own Android operating system for mobile phones.

San Mateo, Calif. - Mobile advertising firm AdMob on Tuesday announced the release of an advertising unit for Google's (NASD: GOOG) Android mobile device operating system, which will allow developers of applications for the Android platform to profit from their creations. The first developers to utilize the new ad unit in their applications include AccuWeather, Jirbo and TapJoy.

AdMob Introduces Download Tracking for iPhone Applications

San Mateo, Calif. - Mobile advertising marketplace AdMob on Wednesday announced the launch of download tracking for iPhone applications, which will enable advertisers to accurately monitor when users click on an ad that leads to a completed download of the advertised application. The company said that early results show that ads for free applications have an average conversion rate of 10%, compared with a 1% average for paid applications, and that games generally have higher conversion rates than other categories of applications.

AdMob Introduces iPhone-Specific Ad Format

San Mateo, Calif. - AdMob, a developer of mobile advertising tools that in March raised $15 million in its second round of funding, said on Tuesday that it has launched a new unit to help advertisers reach new Apple iPhone users. The company said that it already has signed 15 publishers to develop iPhone-specific content. AdMob said that its ad servers will now recognize iPhone users and serve iPhone-specific ads.
