Report: Google to Launch In-Game Ad Network This Month

Los Angeles - Google (NASD: GOOG) plans to launch an in-game advertising network later this month, following its acquisition of in-game ad firm AdScape earlier this year, GigaOM reported, citing sources familiar with the plans.

San Francisco - Google has agreed to acquire Adscape Media, a provider of in-game advertising, for $23 million, RedHerring.com reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. Founded in 2002, San Francisco-based Adscape has developed technology that allows marketers to place dynamic ads inside of video games.

The Wall Street Journal reported today that Google is in talks to acquire San Francisco-based Adscape Media, an in-game advertising firm. A deal could be reached as early as next week, according to the report. Google has been in discussions for months with game publishers regarding the delivery of ads into Internet-enabled video games. The acquisition would enable Google to offer another advertising channel to ad clients, such as virtual billboards in racing games. No details of terms are known at this time.

EchoStar Communications, operator of the DISH Network satellite TV service, announced on Monday that it has named Carl Vogel as President, and Bernard L. Han as Chief Financial Officer. Vogel was EchoStar's president from 1994 to 1997, and has also served as president and CEO of Charter Communications. Han was most recently vice president and chief financial officer of Northwest Airlines.
