Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman of the American Film Institute (AFI) Board of Trustees, today announced the unanimous selection of Bob Gazzale as new AFI President and CEO. Gazzale, a film historian and multiple Emmy-nominated television producer and writer, has been a senior executive at AFI for 15 years. He will succeed Jean Picker Firstenberg, who announced she would retire at the end of AFI's 40th Anniversary celebration this fall.

Discovery Website Adds AFI Filmmaking Course for Classrooms

Los Angeles - Discovery Education's online unitedstreaming service on Monday debuted an online application developed by the American Film Institute to help teachers use filmmaking as a method to engage students in the learning process. "Lights, Camera, Education" was previously only available through training workshops run by AFI.

Shutterfly, Inc., an Internet-based social expression and personal publishing service, today announced the hire of Jerry Ko as Vice President of Product Engineering. Ko will be responsible for helping define, develop and execute the company’s product strategy. Most recently Ko served as Vice President of Engineering at InQuira, Inc.
