"Age of Conan" Sells 1 Million Copies; Top U.S. PC Game

Durham, N.C. - Video game publisher Funcom announced on Friday that its "Age of Conan" massively multiplayer online PC game has now sold a million copies in less than three weeks, topping PC game charts in the U.S., Germany, France and the U.K. "Sales data shows that Age of Conan is the biggest MMO launch since World of Warcraft," said Morten Larssen, Funcom VP of sales and marketing. "The numbers are very promising, and we are very proud to be one of the fastest selling PC games ever in a launch month and the biggest simultaneous Europe/US MMO launch in history."

Durham, N.C. - Video game publisher Funcom announced on Tuesday that its "Age of Conan" has become one of the fastest-selling PC games of all time, as more than 400,000 players have entered the multiplayer online game in the ten days since it went on sale. The company said less than half came from the North American market.

Leipzig, Germany - Organizers of the Leipzig Games Convention have announced winners of the Best of the Games Convention Awards for this year's event, which was held over the weekend in Germany. Winners included "Crysis" (Best PC Game); "BioShock" (Best Xbox 360 Game); "Pro Evolution Soccer 2008" (Best PS3 Game); "Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games" (Best Wii Game); and "Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures" (Best Online Game). Online Game Developer Funcom Raises $30 Million

Durham, N.C. - Funcom, a developer and publisher of online games for PC, consoles and mobile platforms, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $30 million in a private placement, from unnamed investors.

Funcom, Eidos Launch Beta for "Age of Conan" Multiplayer Game

Durham, N.C. - Video game developer Funcom and publisher Eidos on Tuesday announced the launch of the beta program for their "Age of Conan" massively multiplayer online PC game. The title is scheduled for official release on Oct. 30.
