"Call of Duty 4" Big Winner at Interactive Achievement Awards

Las Vegas - The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) last night announced winners of the 11th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, with "Call of Duty 4," "BioShock" and "The Orange Box" each picking up four awards. Activision's (NASD: ATVI) "Call of Duty 4" won for Overall Game of the Year and Console Game of the Year, while "The Orange Box" from Valve/Electronic Arts (NASD: ERTS) took home the award for Computer Game of the Year. Take-Two Interactive's (NASD: TTWO) "BioShock" won various awards for art direction, music, sound design and story development. A full list of winners is available from a link below.

To wrap up the 2007 Year in Games, and forecast trends for 2008, we sat down with one of the industry’s biggest authorities, Joseph Olin, President of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. He’s been with the AIAS since 2004, and worked with video games and consumer products for 25 years. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, an organization of the interactive entertainment industry, announced the election of Michael Capps, President of Epic Games, and the re-election of Don Daglow, president and CEO of Stormfront Studios, to its Board of Directors. Board member Bruce Shelley of Ensemble Studios will be concluding his tenure when the new term begins May 1.

"Gears of War" Takes Top Honor at 10th Interactive Achievement Awards

Las Vegas - Developer Epic Games' "Gears of War" title took home eight honors, including Game of the Year, Thursday night at the 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, an event organized by The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) at the industry's annual D.I.C.E. Summit.

Calabasas, Calif. - The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) has announced the nominees for its 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, which will be held next month in Las Vegas in connection with the D.I.C.E. Summit. Developer Epic Games' "Gears of War" garnered ten nominations -- including a nod for Overall Game of the Year -- a category where it is up against "Wii Sports" (Nintendo); "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" (Nintendo); "Guitar Hero 2" (Harmonix/Red Octane); and "Elder Scrolls IV" Oblivion (Bethesda Softworks). Submissions Sought for 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards

Calabasas, Calif. - The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) announced on Thursday that it is now accepting submissions for the 10th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards, which recognize exceptional video games and developers. Past recipients have included developers Richard Garriott, Sid Meier and Wil Wright, and games such as "Civilization IV," "God of War" and "Guitar Hero." The AIAS is accepting submissions at Interactive.org through Dec. 8, 2006, with an awards ceremony hosted by comedian Jay Mohr to be held in Las Vegas in February.
