Amazon Video On Demand Adds HD Movies, TV Shows

Seattle - Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) on Wednesday announced the availability of HD movies and TV episodes from its Amazon Video On Demand service. More than 500 titles are available for viewing either on a PC, or on television via set-tops or broadband-connected TVs from partners including TiVo, Roku, Sony and Panasonic. HD movie rentals cost between $3.99 and $4.99, while HD TV episodes are available for purchase for $2.99 each.

Seattle - Roku, the maker of a $99 broadband-connected TV set-bop box, on Tuesday added the ability to purchase and download 40,000 titles from Amazon'com's (NASD: AMZN) Amazon Video On Demand to the device for viewing on a television. Roku owners can also stream Netflix titles on the device.

Seattle - Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) on Monday that it plans to make downloads from its Amazon Video on Demand service accessible on the Roku Digital Video Player. The $99 Roku Player set-top, which already supports playback of Netflix streaming titles, will soon also gain access to the 40,000 movies and TV show downloads available for rent or purchase from Amazon.
