New York - Online music retailer AmieStreet.com announced on Wednesday the launch of a new site design, and said it is currently raising its Series B round of financing, "with strong participation from existing investors."

New York - The Orchard (NASD: ORCD), a digital distributor of independent label music, announced on Wednesday a partnership with digital music retailer AmieStreet.com, that will bring The Orchard's catalog of over 1.1 million songs to the Web store, where song pricing varies based on consumer demand.

Digital Music Retailer AmieStreet.com Launches in Japan

New York - Digital music retailer AmieStreet.com, where all songs start off free and increase in price as they increase in popularity, announced on Tuesday that it has launched a private beta test of a Japanese version of its service. The site is a joint venture with TurboLinux, and in addition to DRM-free MP3s will sell Japanese video anime and manga. A full public launch of the Japan site is set for the first quarter of 2008.

Friendster to Stream Live Performances From CMJ Music Marathon

New York - Online social network Friendster said this week that it has partnered with digital music retailer AmieStreet.com to provide live streaming webcasts from the week-long CMJ Music Marathon in New York. Powered by Xanga TV, performances from artists including Datarock, Anathallo and Samantha Jones will be streamed live from their Friendster Fan Profiles.

Amazon Invests in Music Site AmieStreet

New York. AmieStreet, a digital music site that prices songs of new artists according to their popularity, said on Monday that Amazon.com is leading a first round of investment in the start-up. The amount of Amazon’s investment and the terms are not disclosed. The round also included a few private investors.
