Electronics Firms Partner on Wireless HD Standard

Santa Clara, Calif. - A consortium of consumer electronics and wireless technology developers -- including Sony (NYSE: SNE) and Samsung -- announced on Wednesday that they have partnered to jointly develop a new industry standard for wireless high-definition video. The WHDI (Wireless Home Digital Interface), a technology developed by Israel-based Amimon that includes a video-modem that operates in the 5GHz unlicensed band, will form the basis of the standard, which the companies hope to complete yet this year.

Motorola Invests in Wireless HD Chipmaker Amimon

Schaumberg, Ill. - Motorola announced on Tuesday that its Motorola Ventures unit has invested an undisclosed sum in Amimon, a developer of chips used in wireless transmission of high-definition video.

Wireless Video Chip Developer Amimon Raises $14 Million

Santa Clara, Calif. - Amimon, a start-up developing wireless video modem chipsets, said on Monday that it has raised $14 million in its second round of funding, led by Stata Venture Partners of Boston.
