GS1 Offers Sales-Tracking Barcodes for Musicians, Labels

London - Musicians and record labels can now obtain unique bar codes to track sales of their works, through a collaboration announced this week between barcode provider GS1, the British Phonographic Institute and Association of Independent Music (AIM). Global Trade Identification Numbers (GTIN) will be available for an annual fee of about $50.

U.K. Indie Label Group Licenses Songs to U.K. Podcasters Assn.

London - The U.K.'s Association of Independent Music (AIM), a trade group of over 200 independent record labels, announced that it has signed an agreement with the U.K. Podcasters Association that will allow for some 30,000 full-length tracks to be licensed for legal broadcast within podcasts. AIM member labels include Beggars Group, V2, Domino, Ninja Tune and Rough Trade.

Groove Mobile to Distribute Mobile Songs for Association of Independent Music

Andover, Mass. - Groove Mobile, a provider of mobile music download services, announced on Tuesday that it has signed a worldwide licensing deal with the Association of Independent Music (AIM), which represents labels and distributors in the U.K. Under the deal, Massachusetts-based Groove will now offer recordings from AIM artists as full-track downloads to cell phones on services provided by Sprint, Orange and other carriers.
