Online Video Distribution Provider ExtendMedia Raises $12 Million

Newton, Mass. - ExtendMedia, a provider of online video distribution technology, has raised $12 million in its second round of venture capital financing, led by Venrock Associates and TVM, PEHub.com reported.

Digital Music Player Developer Songbird Raises $1 Million

San Francisco - Songbird, a developer of digital music player software that can access songs both off a PC and the Internet, announced that it has raised $1 million in new financing from Atlas Ventures and Sequoia Capital, Venture Beat reported. San Francisco-based Songbird's media player searches websites visited for available music files, and allows them to be played within the player at any time. It also features a range of music search engines, and allows users to subscribe to MP3 blogs -- with song updates added to the player automatically. The company will use the funds as bridge financing until it can complete its first venture round, a source told Venture Beat.
