New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) MTVN Entertainment Group announced this week the launch of Atom.com, a re-imagined version of its AtomFilms unit as a digital comedy network that will partner with the company's Comedy Central network to distribute original programming across digital platforms. San Francisco - Short films distributor AtomFilms on Tuesday announced that it has partnered with chipmaker Intel on a short film contest that will award $25,000 in cash and $20,000 in digital home equipment from Intel. The Intel Indies Film Contest made a call for entries to be submitted by Nov. 21, with winners to be announced in January.

Park City, Utah -- Internet short films site AtomFilms announced on Tuesday the launch of 'AtomFilms Hi-Def,' a new advertising-supported service that delivers high-definition films over the Internet in full-screen mode. AtomFilms partnered with Massachusetts-based Maven Networks to provide content management, production and the delivery platform for the movies, which are transmitted to users at 850kbps using Microsoft's Windows Media High-Definition Video at 720p resolution. Users will be asked to download Maven's software, after which they will automatically receive three new shorts from AtomFilms' library to their PCs each week. Advertisers signed on for the launch of AtomFilms Hi-Def include Nintendo and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center.

New York -- AtomTelevision, a joint venture between online short films site AtomFilms and Global Media Holdings, announced on Monday that its Atom on Demand programming will be added to cable TV operator Cablevision's digital cable offering. Over the next year, AtomTelevision will provide users of Cablevision's iO: Interactive Optimum digital cable service with access to approximately 20 hours of original programming, available in packages costing $2.95 for a 24-hour period. Long-running short films site AtomFilms merged with Macromedia's Shockwave.com entertainment site in January 2001 to become AtomShockwave.
