San Francisco - A number of top music managers say that their artists have not seen any revenue from deals made by their labels to offer their music videos on Google's (NASD: GOOG) YouTube video site, CNET News.com reported. "I don't know any artist who has gotten a royalty statement (from their label that includes YouTube money)," music attorney Chris Castle told News.com.

Bebo Social Network Taps Audible Magic for Content Filtering

San Francisco - U.K.-based online social network Bebo, which claims 33 million users, announced that it has tapped Audible Magic to provide content identification and filtering tools to prevent unauthorized content on the network. The technology will give the 500,000 bands and other artists who have posted content on Bebo control over their works. San Francisco-based Audible Magic's digital fingerprinting technology is also used by MySpace, Break.com, GoFish, Grouper and Microsoft's Soapbox.

Microsoft Adds Copyright Filters to Soapbox Video-Sharing Site

Redmond, Wash. - Microsoft has reopened its Soapbox video-sharing site, after ceasing new registrations for the service while it installed filters to block the uploading of copyrighted content. "We are also now conducting proactive filtering of all uploaded content, using technology from Audible Magic," reads a post on the Soapbox blog. "Audible Magic bases their filtering on the video's audio track and their database is being updated constantly. By using this technology, we see this as an important step to ensure the viability and success of Soapbox over the long run."

New York - The Harry Fox Agency (HFA), which represents licensing needs for 35,000 music publishers, announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with Audible Magic, a provider of digital fingerprinting and copyright tracking services, on a service that will identify music within user-generated content.

San Diego - Eyespot, a provider of online tools that let users upload and remix videos, said on Monday that it has partnered with Audible Magic, a provider of copyright content identification and filtering technology. Under the agreement, Eyespot will implement Audible Magic technology to give copyright holders control over what songs are available for users to add to the video mash-ups they create on Eyespot. The company has previously partnered on video mash-up promotions with Paramount Pictures, the NBA and Jive Records.

San Francisco - Video-sharing site GoFish announced on Wednesday that it has licensed copyright filtering and identification from Audible Magic for its site. The company joins a roster of recent Audible Magic customer additions that includes YouTube and MySpace. San Francisco-based GoFish recently acquired youth-oriented social networking site Bolt Media. "This agreement also will assure our strategic content partners and advertisers that GoFish is committed to protecting the rights of artists around the world," said GoFish co-founder and CEO Michael Downing.

Los Gatos, Calif. - Audible Magic, a developer of audio fingerprinting technology that can identify songs distributed digitally, announced on Wednesday that it has added a new module for its CopySense Appliance that helps universities enforce network policies. In addition to filtering the illegal sharing of copyrighted media files, Audible Magic's service now also allows schools to automate actions like the sending of notifications to students that they have violated campus network policies, and the restriction of access to campus networks.

Los Gatos, Calif. - Audible Magic, a developer of "audio fingerprinting" peer-to-peer file-sharing network filtering technology, announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with Activated Content Corporation, to license the company's watermarking technology. The service from Activated Content will add protection for pre-release music, film and other media content, giving copyright holders the ability to trace leaked works back to their pre-release production sources.

Los Gatos, Calif. -- Audible Magic, a provider of audio fingerprinting technology that can identify digital music files, announced that its technology is being used to monitor the volume of individual song-trading on peer-to-peer networks on the University of Wyoming's computer network. The system could potentially allow for unauthorized files to be blocked from transmission, while allowing legitimate files on P2P networks to be traded freely. "There are a growing number of authorized and legitimate uses for P2P technology within our university, and we feel that Audible Magic's content-aware approach can provide an ideal long-term solution for us," said Robert Morrison, director of telecommunications and systems services at the University of Wyoming.
