THQ Releases "Battle of the Bands" for Nintendo Wii

Agoura Hills, Calif. - Video game publisher THQ (NASD: THQI) on Monday shipped its "Battle of the Bands" exclusively for Nintendo Wii to retailers. The game, which THQ says combines "beat matching and combat," features 30 popular songs recorded in each of five different styles -- rock, funk/hip-hop, country, marching band and Latin -- which players can switch between during head-to-head gameplay.

Gambling Site Bodog.com Launches $1 Million Battle of the Bands

Vancouver, B.C. - Online gambling site Bodog.com on Monday announced the launch of a Battle of the Bands competition that will award a grand
of $1 million cash. Bands may create a profile and upload songs to BodogMusic.com. Around 150 regional live performance battles will also be held in 17 major U.S. markets, with voting conducted on the website -- where users may also create their own personal profiles. In addition to the cash prize, Bodog.com said the winning band will receive guaranteed international distribution, tour support, music video production, marketing and publicity from its BodogMusic record label unit.
