U.K. Launches Web Ratings System for VOD Content

London - The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) announced on Wednesday the launch of a new online ratings system for downloadable movies, TV shows and video games. Already signed on for BBFC.online, which so far has provided online certificates for some 700 videos, are Disney, Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox.

London - The video game ratings system used in the U.K. could face a major overhaul, with the number of titles reviewed for content by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) rising dramatically, if the findings of a new study commissioned by the U.K. government and conducted by psychologist Dr. Tanya Byron are followed, the BBC reports.

Washington - A bipartisan group of U.S. Senators has called for a "thorough review" of the video game industry's ratings process, in a letter to the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) that focuses on Take-Two Interactive's (NASD: TTWO) violent "Manhunt 2" game.
