Buzz Watch: Beastie Boys Goes Viral With New Instrumental Album

Beastie Boys are back after three years with the new album "The Mix Up" made up of cool instrumental jams. If you have not listed to it yet, I can highly recommend it. Since the Beastie Boys are down with social media, I have embedded a two YouTube videos, “The Rat Cage” and “Off The Grid”. The Boys have also set up a blog and a photostream on Flickr that you can check out (this picture is from that stream, taken in Istanbul).

Movielink Offers Beastie Boys Download Day-and-Date with DVD Release

Santa Monica, Calif. - Movielink, a studio-backed Internet movie download service, announced on Monday that it will offer a download of the Beastie Boys' concert DVD "Awesome, I … Shot That!" on July 25, the same day it becomes available in stores.

Beastie Boys' Defunct Grand Royal Label to Auction Assets Online

Silver Spring, Md. -- Grand Royal, the record label founded by hip-hop group the Beastie Boys in 1993 and shut down amid mounting debt in August 2001, is holding an online auction for its various assets through Bid4Assets.com. During its tenure, the label released albums from groups including Luscious Jackson, At the Drive-In, Buffalo Daughter and Atari Teenage Riot. Assets that will be sold at auction include master recordings, licensing agreements and miscellaneous merchandising agreements. Bid4Assets said the minimum bid for the items is $10,000 and the auction will continue through January 22.
