Bid4Spots Launches Web Marketplace for Cable TV Ads

Encino, Calif. - Bid4Spots, the provider of an online marketpace for unsold radio and TV commercial airtime, on Monday launched a new space for cable TV advertising that can target ads down to the neighborhood. The company says it has organized a registry of the nation's local cable TV systems that will help advertisers reach their target audiences, adding that there was as much as $657 million in lost revenue due to unsold inventory in 2007. The first Bid4Spots cable TV is scheduled for June 11.

New York - After receiving scant support from cable TV networks, eBay (NASD: EBAY) has shut down its Web-based TV exchange after just over a year in operation, Adweek reports.

San Francisco - Online auction site eBay has launched a service that will offer unsold radio advertising inventory from 2,300 U.S. radio stations for sale on its site, through a partnership with Encino, Calif.-based Bid4Spots, The New York Times reported.

Encino, Calif. - Bid4Spots, an online marketplace that features reverse auctions for radio advertising time, announced on Tuesday that it plans to launch a version of its service for the U.K. radio market. Encino, Calif.-based Bid4Spots' U.S. marketplace is used by more than 2,300 radio stations, 1,300 advertisers and 260 ad agencies. Set to debut in the third quarter of 2007, the company's U.K. site will be run by AuctionMedia.

Quincy Smith has been named President of the newly formed division CBS Interactive, it was announced today by Leslie Moonves, President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS Corporation. In this role, Smith will work in tandem with each CBS division to formulate new media strategies and partnerships involving all interactive platforms, including Internet, mobile and video gaming. Reporting to Smith will be the wide variety of interactive media company-wide, including: CBS SportsLine.com, CBSNews.com and CBS.com, as well as the new video site Innertube.
