Maynard, Mass. - 38 Studios, the game studio founded by former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Maryland-based Big Huge Games.

Agoura Hills, Calif. - As part of its previously announced plan to cut costs, video game publisher THQ (NASD: THQI) will spin off two of its development studios, and told staff at a third that it will be shut down if the company cannot find a buyer, GameDaily reported.

Agoura Hills, Calif. - Video game publisher THQ (NASD: THQI) announced on Tuesday it will acquire roleplaying game developer Big Huge Games for an undisclosed sum.

Big Huge Games to Develop Roleplaying Title for THQ

Timonium, Md. - Developer Big Huge Games said on Thursday that it has signed a deal to create a new roleplaying game for publisher THQ, slated for release in 2009 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. Ken Rolston, the lead designer of Big Huge Games, most recently worked on "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion," which topped North American and European sales charts after debuting in March 2006.
