Yahoo Shutters Bix Online Karaoke Service

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Yahoo (NASD: YHOO) has shuttered its Bix online karaoke service, which the company acquired back in 2006, TechCrunch reports. Yahoo confirmed that it closed the service down on June 30, as "part of the ongoing prioritization efforts at Yahoo, where we are increasing investment in some areas while scaling back in others."

Yahoo to Acquire Online Talent Competition Site Bix.com

San Francisco - Yahoo plans to acquire Bix.com, a site that lets anyone create an online talent contest, for an undisclosed sum, The New York Times reported on Friday. Palo Alto, Calif.-based Bix was founded in January and launched its service in August, having raised $6.8 million in venture capital.
