Seattle - Online bookseller Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) has changed its policy with regard to its print-on-demand service for publishers, now requiring that print-on-demand books listed for sale on its site actually be printed through its own BookSurge service, instead of by any third-parties. North Charleston, S.C. -- BookSurge, a South Carolina-based provider of inventory-free book printing and fulfillment services, has been acquired by online retail giant Amazon.com. The acquisition price was not disclosed. BookSurge maintains a catalog of thousands of titles that can be printed on-demand and are available for sale on Amazon.com. BookSurge offers its fulfillment network to publishers, authors and wholesalers. The company was founded in 2000.
