1Cast Debuts Video News Clip Service; Integrates with Boxee

Kirkland, Wash. - Personalized video service 1Cast on Wednesday commercially launched its platform, which pushes customized video news clips to users based on their interests. The company said that it pushed more than 3.2 million video clips monthly to its beta users, from partners including the BBC, CNBC, Bloomberg, Fox, Reuters and Dow Jones. 1Cast also announced a deal with Boxee, to extend its service to the TV media center platform.

Brightcove to Provide Partner Video Programming to Boxee

Cambridge, Mass. - Brightcove, a provider of Internet TV distribution services, on Tuesday announced a partnership with Boxee, a developer of software that puts Web video on televisions. The deal will see Brightcove supply Boxee with video content from partners including Conde Nast Digital, Qubo and TheStreet.com

Boxee Secures $6 Million for TV Set-top Box Software

New York - Boxee, a developer of set-top box software that can deliver Web video and audio content to a television, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $6 million in its second round of venture capital financing, led by General Catalyst Partners.

Hulu Back on Boxee After RSS Workaround

Los Angeles - Boxee, a TV set-top box that streams Web video content, has reintroduced access to video site Hulu via a workaround RSS feed, following Hulu's decision to pull its content from the service. The News Corp. and NBC Universal joint venture allows its video content to be distributed through an RSS reader, which the developers of Boxee have now modified their service to pick up.

CBS: "Well Within Rights" to Stream Hulu Content on TV.com

New York - CBS (NYSE: CBS) has asserted that it is "well within its rights" to stream content from the Hulu joint venture between News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) and NBC Universal (NYSE: GE) on its own TV.com website, responding to Hulu's assertion that contractual rights led to the removal of Hulu content from TV.com. "CBS Interactive is well within its rights to stream Hulu video content on TV.com under its agreement with Hulu. We are evaluating our next steps at this time," the company said in a statement.

Content Providers Force Hulu Content Off Boxee Platform

Los Angeles - Following its move earlier this week to remove its video programming from CBS-owned (NYSE: CBS) TV.com, Hulu, the video site joint venture between News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) and NBC Universal (NYSE: GE), said it will no longer make its content available through Boxee's media center software. "This has weighed heavily on the Hulu team, and we know it will weigh even more so on Boxee users," Hulu CEO Jason Kilar wrote in a blog post. "Our content providers requested that we turn off access to our content via the Boxee product, and we are respecting their wishes.

Herman Blackbook to Fund iPhone, Twitter App Developers
