Los Angeles - Britney Spears has launched an exclusive line of virtual gifts on Facebook, becoming the first celebrity to do so, according to a post on her website. The $2 gifts, designed by computer iconographer Susan Kare, include Britney-themed cakes and balloons for birthdays, "limited edition images of memorable Britney moments" and tour-related gifts. Spears claims close to 2 million fans on Facebook.

Los Angeles - Hackers took over the Twitpic accounts of celebrities Britney Spears and Ellen DeGeneres over the weekend, and sent false posts that included one stating that Spears had died, the Associated Press reported.

New York - A number of top music artists, including Neil Diamond, Britney Spears, Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Billy Joel and Elton John, are partnering with Ticketmaster (NASD: TKTM) to sell some premium tickets to their concerts on a secondary ticket exchange for hundreds of dollars more than face value, The Wall Street Journal reported. Several managers of top artists and Ticketmaster executives told The Journal that the company "routinely offers to list hundreds of the best tickets per concert on one of its two resale Web sites -- and divides the extra revenue, which can amount to more than $2 million on a major tour, with artists and promoters."

2007 is nearly out, and the Spears family has managed to outdo itself once again.  In a year in which Britney seemed to pack more intrigue than Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, 16-year-old Jamie Lynn, star of Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101confirmed today that she’s pregnant.

MTV will launch the “Britney Spears Wants a Piece of You” contest on Monday, asking fans to create a new video for her single “Piece of Me” from the album Blackout. Using MTV’s Video Remixer, the network will release footage of Spears “including interviews, red-carpet appearances and performances.”

Billy Ray Cyrus made his wish to host Britney Spears for Thanksgiving known last week to In Touch magazine, reaching out to the troubled pop star as countless celebrities have done in recent weeks.  "We love her. We would love to be there for you and we care about you," Cyrus said.  "Miley is a big fan and she wants to reach out, too. We want her to know that's it's never too late to make things right."

Britney Spears is a friend to the paparazziBack when ignorant folks still believed it possible to contact Britney Spears and have her participate in a photo shoot, OK! Magazine found the task rather difficult.  Citing unnamed sources, TMZ reported that Britney’s interview for the shoot was “nothing less than a meltdown,” and apparently she was “completely out of it.” At the time we found both descriptions surprising, whereas now we would be surprised to see her stop at a red light.

The EaglesThanks to a rule change by Billboard allowing The Eagles to count sales of its new WalMart-exclusive album Long Road out of Eden, the band’s first studio release in 28 years outsold Britney Spears’s Blackout to earn the No. 1 spot, according to Nielsen SoundScan’s weekly report.  Billboard announced yesterday that it would count the sales of albums sold exclusively in single venues like WalMart.

A Shot from Britney's New Video, by Alec ByrneAccording to Fox News, Britney Spears’s new album Blackout will finish its first week at No. 1 on the charts.  Though citing no exact research, the article estimates that the new album sold between 325,000 and 350,000 units.  If the numbers hold when Nielsen SoundScan releases its weekly results tomorrow, it would be a rather unimpressive week of sales for a No. 1 album compared to others this year.

Ryan SeacrestOn Air with Ryan Seacrest had a guest on its show today sure to make any radio producer start sniffing glue again, Britney Spears.  At this point you have to ask yourself if the girl can continue to surprise.  Even though the odds of a smooth, clean interview are low, her hitting streak for craziness is reaching Joe DiMaggio levels, so you might have expected this one occasion to go over well.  You can listen to the interview here.

Lynn SpearsAccording to Publishers Marketplace, Lynn Spears, mother of 26-year-old Britney and 16-year-old Jamie Lynn, has signed a publishing deal with Thomas Nelson.  According to Gawker, “Thomas Nelson is a publisher of Bibles, inspirational (Christian) books, and occasionally books by pontificating celebrities like Bill Cosby, so Lynne Spears is a natural fit for their list.”

Oops, I just ran over that guy's foot!Let's leave out the "Oops, she did it again!" quips this one time.  It's simply too easy.  Not to mention the whole Britney-ran-over-a-paparrazo's-foot thing was waiting to happen anyway.  Now the TMZ photographer has put the sock on eBay with a posting that reads, "Authentic sock Britney ran over. The actual sock worn by a TMZ cameraman Thursday when Brit drove over his foot. Tire tread guaranteed authentic!"

Cover Art for BlackoutWhat does an album’s cover art and track list tell you about the music?  Absolutely nothing.  But in the case of Britney Spears and her new album Blackout, both are amusing if only because of the role they play in the larger context of her life.  Take the album’s title, for instance.  Blackout.  A curious and interesting choice.  What, exactly, does it mean?  The only time we tend to hear the term nowadays is when referencing a state of inebriation in which one remembers not a thing – a blackout.  Is that the intention?

Britney's New Album has been bumped up 2 weeks to prevent LeaksCiting the amount of “leaked” songs for Britney Spears’ new album titled Blackout (no pun is believed to be intended), her label, Jive Records, has bumped the launch date to October 30th, two weeks ahead of the original November 13th release.  Said a label spokesperson, "Due to these numerous unauthorized online leaks, the label is doing everything possible to prevent and avoid any further illegal distribution of songs including moving up the release date of the album to Oct. 30."
