Video-sharing Site Metacafe Signs Mobile Distribution Deals

Palo Alto, Calif. - Video-sharing site Metacafe, which claims 28 million unique monthly visitors, on Wednesday announced partnerships with several mobile entertainment firms. The deals with Buongiorno, which counts 100 carrier partners in over 50 countries; mobile entertainment network Dyuna; and Mobile Streams will facilitate the distribution of Metacafe's content on mobile phones.

Miami - Buongiorno, an Italy-based mobile entertainment and marketing services firm, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired By-Cycle, a provider of mobile marketing and content services in South America, for $5.5 million.

Milan - Buongiorno, an Italy-based provider of digital marketing, advertising, mobile entertainment and other services, announced on Friday that it has formed a joint venture with Japanese general trading company Mitsui & Co., to jointly manage and further develop Buongiorno's digital marketing services in various countries.

Buongiorno Acquires Chinese Mobile Firm eDongAsia for $2.7 Million

Milan, Italy - Buongiorno, an Italy-based digital music and entertainment distributor, announced on Friday that its Hong Kong unit, a joint venture with Mitsui & Co., has acquired eDongAsia, a provider of mobile entertainment in China. Under the deal, Buongiorno Hong Kong will acquire up to 80% of eDongAsia for about $2.7 million. Buongiorno will offer both business to business services for telecom companies and large media groups in China, as well as consumer services, under its Blinko brand.

Buongiorno, Mobixell Team on Mobile Content-Sharing Service

Milan, Italy - Buongiorno, a distributor of mobile entertainment content, announced on Wednesday a partnership with Mobixell Networks, a developer of mobile multimedia applications, that will allow mobile carriers to offer content-sharing among users. The service will use Boston-based Mobixell's Viral Mobile Content Sharing system and Milan-based Buongiorno's Digital Marketplace Platform, and allow mobile users to share multimedia content with one another and carriers to track peer-to-peer viral content exchange.

Buongiorno Acquires Rocket Mobile for $17 Million

Milan, Italy - Buongiorno USA, a unit of the Italian digital music and media distributor, announced on Thursday that it has acquired Rocket Mobile, a developer of multimedia and messaging applications for mobile phones, for $17 million. Founded in 2001, Los Gatos, Calif.-based Rocket Mobile has developed mobile applications for customers including Sony BMG, National Geographic, Snapfish and Kodak. The company reported 2005 revenues of $5 million, and expects 2006 operating income of about $2.2 million. Rocket Mobile will operate as a business unit within Buongiorno, and continue to be led by president and CEO Wayne Yurtin.

Buongiorno to Distribute Universal Pictures Mobile Content

London - Buongiorno, a European wireless entertainment publisher, announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with image archive Corbis to distribute ringtones, wallpapers and video clips from Universal Pictures films in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Under the deal, Universal will provide Buongiorno with elements from up to 75 films and TV shows, to be licensed through Corbis and distributed on mobile phones in English, French, Italian, German and Spanish.

Buongiorno Vitaminic to Distribute Mobile "Transformers" Content

London - Buongiorno Vitaminic, an Italy-based distributor of mobile content, announced on Monday that it has licensed the rights from Hasbro Properties Group to distribute mobile content based on Hasbro's "Transformers." Under the deal, Buongiorno can distribute Transformers-related content in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

O2 Network, Buongiorno Produce Mobile TV Soccer Show

London - European wireless network operator O2 announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Buongiorno, an Italian provider of multimedia mobile content, to launch a mobile TV sports talk show for O2's U.K. subscribers. "Soccer Addicts" will be a weekly four-minute-long show that incorporates both in-studio hosts and guests, and video, picture and text contributions from viewers. The first episode is set for wireless broadcast on Dec. 19.

Vitaminic Merges With Interactive Mobile Services Firm Buongiorno

Milan -- Vitaminic, an international online music distribution network, announced that it has agreed to merge with Italian interactive mobile service provider Buongiorno Group. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The Buongiorno Group reaches around 30 million customers, distributing content to wireless network operators in Italy and Spain, as well as the U.K., France, Germany and Austria. "The merger with Buongiorno represents an outstanding step forward in pursuing Vitaminic's strategy, whose major objective is to reach an undisputed leadership in Europe's digital content distribution through electronic networks," said Vitaminic CEO Gianluca Dettori. "Thanks to the synergies between Buongiorno's distribution and marketing platform and Vitaminic's assets and multimedia content, the merger will create a brand new operator, with a unique competitive position, ready to exploit the great opportunities of upcoming broadband and third generation networks."
