New York - Pando Network, a provider of peer-assisted content delivery network services, announced on Wednesday that NBC Universal (NYSE: GE) will provide video delivery services for the new NBC Direct service, which will offer free downloads of primetime NBC TV shows. The service will offer full-length episode downloads of shows including "30 Rock," "The Office" and "The Tonight Show," as well as the ability to have new episodes automatically downloaded as they become available.

The LimelightHD service will deliver 720p and 1080p resolution video, and support players including Adobe's Flash, Microsoft Windows Media, Microsoft Silverlight and the Move Media Player. The company said initial customers for service will include Internet TV service Brightcove, Fox Interactive Media, MSN Video and Rajshri.com, India's largest broadband video portal.

Burlingame, Calif. - BitGravity on Monday announced the launch of its new content delivery network optimized for video and rich media, and said it has signed over 50 customers, including Sling Media, the maker of content place-shifting devices. Burlingame, Calif.-based BitGravity is privately funded. "Media companies are experiencing a technology barrier; they know in theory they can build applications online in unforeseen ways, but in practice, the current CDN infrastructure is too limiting to realize their vision," said Perry Wu, CEO and co-founder of BitGravity.
