Free Charlatans Album Racks Up 60,000 Downloads

London - The new album from U.K. rock band the Charlatans has been downloaded for free more than 60,000 times since it was made available through the website of radio station XFM on March 3.

G8wave to Power Free Mobile Song Downloads for the Charlatans

Boston - Mobile media distributor g8wave announced on Thursday that it has signed a deal with U.K. band the Charlatans, to create an ad-supported mobile site that will offer fans free downloads of full-length tracks, ringtones, images, video and other content. Boston-based g8wave said it is also working with the band on Bluetooth broadcasting at shows, mobile ticket sales and a mobile store that will sell t-shirts and posters. The Charlatans also recently struck a deal to offer a new single for free download through U.K. radio service XFM.

London - Three popular acts not currently signed to a label -- Charlatans, Oasis and Jamiroquai -- are considering offering upcoming releases for free or allowing fans to decide on the price they pay, Telegraph.co.uk reported, citing industry sources.
