Dallas - World Digital Media Group (WDMG), a multi-platform music and digital content company, today announced that they have been chosen by Lycos as the first music content provider for the web portal’s newly launched proprietary entertainment platform Lycos Cinema, which allows users to chat online in real-time while watching videos.

Verizon to Launch SCI's PlayLinc Gaming Communications Platform

Paltalk Adds Social Network Features to Online Video Chat Community

New York - Paltalk, an online video chat community with over four million members, announced on Friday that it has added social networking features to its service with the launch of Paltalk People 2.0. The site blends common social networking features like member profiles with the ability to add chat with other members -- as well as friends on AOL, Yahoo and ICQ buddy lists -- via video, voice and text.

AOL Acquires Web-Based Chat and IM Firm Userplane

New York - Celebrity blog portal ChatWithAStar.com announced on Monday that it will host a publicity event this evening in New York City where Nikki Hilton, members of the New York Mets, actors from HBO's "The Sopranos" and others will be featured in a "mobile blogging sanctuary" called the Blogmobile. New York-based ChatWithAStar.com said its Blogmobile will also travel to sites throughout the city, allowing people to chat live online with various celebrities.

Verizon Wireless to Offer Fans Mobile Chats from Boston Red Sox Dugout

Woburn, Mass. - Verizon Wireless announced on Wednesday that it will connect Boston Red Sox fans directly to the team's dugout through a series of moderated mobile chats beginning this week. The initial chat session, scheduled for Thursday, April 20th at 2:00 p.m., will be hosted by Red Sox manager Terry Francona.

Xfire Claims 3 Million Users for PC Gaming Chat Software

Festoon Enables Video Chat for Google Talk

Campbell, Calif. - Santa Cruz Networks said on Friday that it has updated its Festoon video plug-in to enable users of Google's Google Talk IM and Internet telephony application to see each other while they are chatting. Festoon has also been downloaded some 2.75 million times by users of Skype, another Internet telephone service, who have logged more than 40 million video call user minutes.

Yahoo Pulls Chat Rooms After Report Shows Child Sex Solicitation

Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Yahoo has shut down its user-created chat rooms, following a TV report showing several chat rooms were being used by predators to solicit sex from minors. The KPRC Houston Channel 2 report also found that ads from large companies including Pepsi, State Farm Insurance and Georgia-Pacific appeared on Yahoo Chat pages for rooms with names like "Girls 13 And Under For Older Guys." "As soon as we found out we pulled our ads," Pepsi spokesman Dave DeCecco told Reuters. "We were totally unaware our ads were associated with those chat rooms -- and that was back in April." Yahoo has taken down all chat rooms for the time being, except for those rooms that the company operates itself. ''We began implementing the changes to Yahoo Chat user rooms in the past week," said spokeswoman Mary Osako. "Yahoo condemns the use of Internet tools for illegal activities."
