HBO, Cinemax Docs Coming to Amazon DVD-on-Demand Service

Seattle - Amazon.com's (NASD: AMZN) CreateSpace on-demand DVD distribution service said on Monday that it has partnered with Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) HBO Video to offer a selection of HBO and Cinemax documentaries on the service. Films included in the offering, to include "When I Knew" and "Hard Times at Douglass High: A No Child Left Behind Report Card," will also be the first created through an on-demand service to be encrypted by the industry's Content Scramble System (CSS) copy protection technology.

Broadband Network RipeTV Adds Cinemax Channel

Los Angeles - Ripe Digital Entertainment, a multiplatform entertainment network for men, said on Wednesday hat it has launched a new channel on its RipeTV broadband service that features licensed programming from the Cinemax cable network, a unit of Time Warner's HBO. The Max Effect channel will include the Cinemax late-night series "Sin City Diaries," as well as short-form content created for Cinemax audiences.

HBO to Make All 26 Channels Available in HD by Mid-2008

New York - Time Warner's Home Box Office (HBO) cable network has announced plans to make all 26 of its HBO and Cinemax channels available in high-definition by the second quarter of 2008.

New York - Time Warner's Cinemax has secured a deal with director George Lucas' Lucasfilm to offer all six films from the "Star Wars" franchise in high-definition on its premium cable TV network, TVWeek.com reported.
