2K Games Ships "CivCity: Rome," "Civilization IV" Expansion Pack

New York - 2K Games, a unit of Take-Two Interactive, on Wednesday shipped its "CivCity: Rome" PC game and "Warlords," the first expansion pack for its "Sid Meier's Civilization IV" PC title, to retailers. "CivCity" was developed by Firefly Studios in collaboration with Take-Two's Firaxis Games, while the expansion was developed at Firaxis.

Nokia Ships "Civilization" for the N-Gage

Espoo, Finland - Nokia announced on Friday that it has shipped a version of game developer Sid Meier's "Civilization" title for its N-Gage hybrid cell phone/mobile game deck to retailers. The mobile version was published by Atari.

3 UK to Offer Mobile Version of "Civilization" PC Game

London - 3 UK Ltd., the U.K.-based 3G subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Hutchison Whampoa, announced that it has signed an exclusive agreement with Com2uS, to offer the Korea-based developer's mobile version of the popular PC videogame "Civilization" from Sid Meier's Firaxis Games.

Take-Two Acquires Rights to Firaxis Games' "Civilization" Franchise

New York -- Take-Two Interactive, publisher of the "Grand Theft Auto" video game franchise, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired the multi-million unit-selling "Civilization" game franchise from Maryland-based Firaxis Games. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Take-Two also signed a long-term, multi-title publishing agreement with Firaxis, which is home to developer Sid Meier and has created games including "Pirates," "SimGolf" and "Alpha Centauri." The first title to be published as a result of the agreement will be "Sid Meier's Civilization IV" for PC, to be released by Take-Two's newly formed 2K Games label in late 2005.
