ColbertNation.com to Stream Musical Guests' Albums

New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) Comedy Central announced on Wednesday that its ColbertNation.com website will stream full albums from upcoming musical guests. The Flaming Lips' new double album "Embryonic" will be the first to get the treatment, and will stream following the band's appearance tonight, until Monday. The album is slated for release on Oct. 13. Other upcoming acts who will stream albums include The Mountain Goats, who will appear on the show on Oct. 6.

Netflix to Stream "South Park" Episodes, Nickelodeon Shows

Los Angeles - Online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX) on Monday announced deals with Viacom (NYSE: VIA), to offer the first nine seasons of Comedy Central's "South Park," in addition to Nickelodeon's "iCarly" and "SpongeBob SquarePants" for on-demand streaming through its website to subscribers. The streaming deal includes a total of more than 300 episodes owned by Viacom. Netflix already reached a deal to stream content from Viacom/MTV Networks' LGBT-oriented Logo network.

Netflix to Stream All Nine Seasons of "South Park"

Los Angeles - South Park Studios and Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) Comedy Central have reached a deal with online DVD rental service Netflix (NASD: NFLX), that will see the first nine seasons of "South Park" made available for streaming via Netflix's subscription service, The New York Times reported. The studio's own site that offers the same streams has counted over 300 million views since last April. There was no talk of ad splits or guarantees or advances, just a payment for a show Netflix seemed really happy to have," Mr. Stone said. "We've never given the show to anybody else to stream, but we like Netflix as a service. We use it."

Comedy Central Re-launches Jokes.com

New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) Comedy Central network has re-launched its Jokes.com website, which now features some 5,000 video clips and 12,000 text-based jokes arranged by topic, in addition to information on various stand-up comedy tours. The clips include Comedy Central performances by comedians including Sarah Silverman, Zach Galifianakis, Dane Cook and Jim Gaffigan.

Atom.com, Comedy Central Debut "Face to Bush" Political Spoofs

New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) Atom.com and Comedy Central network on Friday announced the launch of "Face to Bush," a new series of multiplatform video shorts spoofing exit interviews with President Bush that was co-created by comedian Bob Odenkirk, and stars Bush impersonator and comedian James Adomian. Eleven episodes will be offered both online, and as interstitials during the network's "Friday Night Stand-Up" program.

Comedy Central Unveils Redesign of ColbertNation.com

New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) Comedy Central on Thursday unveiled a redesigned website for fans of its "The Colbert Report" show, ColbertNation.com, which features clips from every episode dating back the Peabody Award-winning program's launch in 2005. The site added a searchable database, community features, and information on upcoming guests and special events. "I'm thrilled with our new Web site. I only wish John McCain knew how to get there," said Colbert.

Viacom Debuts Atom.com, Details Pairing with Comedy Central

New York - Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) MTVN Entertainment Group announced this week the launch of Atom.com, a re-imagined version of its AtomFilms unit as a digital comedy network that will partner with the company's Comedy Central network to distribute original programming across digital platforms. Atom.com will also produce a half-hour series, "Atom TV," that had its premiere on Comedy Central this week.

Hulu.com., the joint venture between Fox and NBC that provides streaming video content online, announced a deal this week that The Colbert Report and The Daily Show are now available through the site. Hulu.com came out of beta on March 15 and has seen a steady share of US Internet traffic since, as illustrated in the following chart.

Comcast's Fancast.com Adds "South Park," Other Viacom Shows

Philadelphia - Comcast (NASD: CMCSA) announced on Monday that it has added full-length streaming episodes of Viacom-owned programs including "South Park," "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" to the offering at its Fancast.com service. As part of the deal, Comcast's video-on-demand service will also expand carriage of standard and HD content from MTV and BET.

New York - South Park Digital Studios, a joint venture between "South Park" creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and Viacom's (NYSE: VIA) Comedy Central, on Wednesday launched a new website where users can watch every episode of the 12-season series for free.

WGA Allows David Letterman's Writers to Return to Work

Beginning next Wednesday, January 2nd, writers for CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman and Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson will return to work after 8 weeks on strike, the AP writes. The Writers Guild of America came to an interim agreement with Worldwide Pants, the production company for both shows owned by Letterman. "I am grateful to the WGA for granting us this agreement," the AP quoted Letterman as saying.

‘Daily Show’ & ‘Colbert Report’ Resume in January Sans Writers

Following the leads of Conan O’Brien, Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel, David Letterman, and Craig Ferguson, Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show and Stephen Colbert, host of The Colbert Report, will resume their shows on January 7th, according to NoFactZone. The shows had been on hold since the WGA strike began on November 5th, and will return without their writers, who are expected to still be striking at that time. Comedy Central released the following statement:

If we ignore the fact that it seems like obvious product placement for a minute, it actually highlights a topic we frequently address in our Millennials conferences - the cyber-world is REAL to the Millennial generation. Jay Leno & Conan O’Brien to Restart Shows in January

Caught between a need to support striking writers and save non-WGA employees, late night TV hosts Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien will return on January 2nd, Variety reports. In a statement released by NBC today, O’Brien said, "With the New Year upon us, I am left with a difficult decision: Either go back to work and keep my staff employed or stay dark and allow 80 people, many of whom have worked for me for fourteen years, to lose their jobs.”
