London - Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) Comes With Music platform, where users pay extra for music-focused handsets that come with an unlimited download service, counted just 107,277 users in nine countries in July, some nine months after launch, according to Nokia figures published by Music Ally. In the U.K., where the service has been available since October 2008, the service counts 32,728 users. PaidContent notes that the service "has been hampered by DRM and complex PC operation and confusing PC-mobile sync."

Sydney, Australia - Nokia (NYSE: NOK) said on Wednesday that it plans to launch its Comes With Music unlimited mobile download service in Australia on March 20. The Australian Nokia Music Store counts over 4 million tracks from local and international artists. The service, bundled with a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic handset, will cost about $633 with a 12-month subscription, and $718 with an 18-month subscription.

San Francisco - INgrooves, a digital distributor of independent music, said on Tuesday that it has signed a deal with Nokia (NYSE: NOK), to include its catalog of largely electronic music in the mobile company's Comes With Music unlimited download service. Consumers can download an unlimited number of tracks during their first year as Comes With Music subscribers, and keep those tracks forever; after the first year, the service adds a monthly subscription fee.

London - European mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse has cut the price of Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) first handset to support the Comes With Music unlimited download service, with analysts saying it's due to lackluster sales, Times Online reported. The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic was reduced in price from about $185 to $120 after less than three months on sale. "They are struggling with sales," CCS Insight analyst Paolo Pescatore told Times Online.

London - The digital rights management (DRM) security protecting Nokia's new Comes With Music unlimited mobile music service has been cracked, Electric Pig reported. A $26 application developed by Tunebite purports to play back songs and then re-dub them into a non-encrypted file, in a process that takes just a couple of seconds per song.

"The financial barrier to try new music is completely removed," Nokia spokesman Damian Stathonikos told Reuters, adding, "We are in talks with all major labels.
