Southbury, Conn. - Three months after launching its first technology-enhanced concept store in Michigan, book retailer Borders (NYSE: BGP) on Friday unveiled a new, 22,000-square-foot concept store in Southbury, Conn. The store features multiple computer kiosks dedicated to new services such as music and book downloading, along with services for mixing and burning custom CDs. Cleveland, Ohio - OverDrive, a distributor of digital books to online retailers, libraries and schools, announced on Tuesday that it has added DRM-free audiobook titles in the MP3 format to its offering. San Diego - Sony Electronics announced on Monday that it will sell its Sony Reader e-book display device in about 200 Borders stores nationwide. Roughly the size of a paperback novel, the $300-$400 device can store hundreds of books and other documents, and turn 7,500 pages before needing a charge. As part of the partnership, Borders will offer prepaid cards for Sony Connect, the company's online store that sells e-books, music and other digital media.
