OnLive Lands Major Funding to Launch Game Service

San Francisco - OnLive, the developer of a Web platform that delivers instant video games on demand, said on Wednesday that it has landed a major new round of funding, which the company calls "by far" its largest to date.

Sunnyvale, Calif. - Carol Bartz, the former CEO of Autodesk (NASD: ADSK), will be named the new CEO of Yahoo (NASD: YHOO), The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing "people familiar with the situation." The news comes nearly two months after Yahoo co-founder Jerry Yang, under fire from investors, announced his plans to resign.

Avid Sells Softimage to Autodesk; Cuts 410 Jobs

Tewksbury, Mass. - Avid Technology (NASD: AVID), a maker of software and hardware products for the production, management, and distribution of digital media content, has agreed to sell its Softimage business for about $35 million to Autodesk.

Autodesk to Buy 3D Modeling Company Skymatter

San Rafael, CA. Autodesk announced on Monday that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of New Zealand-based Skymatter Limited, the developer of Mudbox 3D modelling software. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Autodesk Powers GPS Child Locator Service for Disney Mobile

San Rafael, Calif. - Autodesk announced on Wednesday that its technology will power a forthcoming "family locator" feature on the Disney Mobile wireless service. The technology will allow parents to locate their children's cell phones using GPS technology. Launching in June, the Disney Mobile service will also allow parents to set spending allowances, and track usage of voice minutes and text messages; set hourly and time of day restrictions on phone usage; program restricted and always-on phone numbers; and prioritize important family messages.
