Cell Phone Makers Haven't Learned from Wii & the Console WarAuthored by Scott Goldberg on June 10, 2007 - 8:26pm.
What would the video game industry look like today if the PS3 had launched without the Wii? Would Thursday’s announced layoff of 100 employees at Sony Computer Entertainment have happened? Would everyone own a PS3? We’ll never know, but the scrap heap of a console launch gone awry seems to have had no bearing on the mobile industry’s thinking, and that’s a mistake. After all, where are we right now in mobile hardware? An over-priced, over-hyped shiny black device is about to hit the market, and instead of a Wii-like phone to steal the thunder, it has the luxury of a spotlight that has shined brightly since January. That device, of course, is the iPhone.

But beginning in October, Xbox loyalists will finally get to celebrate the beginning of their relationship with Grand Theft Auto, excellent news for Microsoft.

12 Questions about Video Games with a 12-year-oldAuthored by Scott Goldberg on January 19, 2007 - 6:41am.
Scott Cohen is 12 years old, comes from Connecticut, and is a huge fan of video games. I interviewed him with some tough questions about gaming recently, and as one would expect from a man of his experience, he does not filter his opinions. I’ve personally played video games with him (and thoroughly lost), so I can attest to his skills. Here are 12 questions with a 12-year-old…

The Wii’s controller, which looks in form like it should be changing channels on a television, is a positive step ahead for the industry, offering a change to a device that has essentially been the same since the days when Atari’s Pac Man ruled the field. |
